History and Mission

The Department of Economics and Statistics [DIES] at the University of Udine was established in 2011 through the merger of the Departments of Economic Sciences, Statistical Sciences, Corporate Finance, and Financial Markets. This reorganization, confirmed by subsequent strategic plans of the university, aims to strengthen research activities and the attractiveness of undergraduate and graduate degree courses through a multidisciplinary approach, strong integration with the university and the territory, openness to internationalization, innovation, and a student-centered approach. DIES promotes, organizes, and coordinates teaching, scientific and research activities of the University of Udine in the field of Economics and Statistics. DIES offers three undergraduate degree courses, four graduate degree courses, a doctoral program, and six master's programs. DIES aims to enhance doctoral programs as an academic and professional training school of international value, expand the offer of master's programs as flexible market and market-oriented tools, innovate and qualify laboratory activities and active teaching.
